Meet our founding principals

Bill Howard

After Bill Howard's father, Whitey, sadly passed away from Alzheimer’s disease 25 years ago, Bill, who was working as a Commercial Real Estate Agent at the time, took the initiative to reach out to the Alzheimer’s Association. His goal was to organize a golf fundraiser as a way to express his gratitude to the Association for all the support they provided during such a difficult time. This annual charitable event successfully raised over $1.5 million for his regional Chapter until the year 2019. In 2023, Bill collaborated with Bill Rudd, Michelle Conner, and the owners of The Club at Glenmore to establish a fund specifically dedicated to early Alzheimer’s research at UVA Health Neurosciences. Remarkably, in just two short years, the event has raised over $100,000 and continues to gather momentum and grow each year.

Michelle Conner

Michelle brings 20+ years in broadcast advertising and promotions to every golf event at Glenmore, along with her experience organizing a golf outing that successfully raised over $750k for UVA’s Children’s Hospital. However, her passion for this golf event is inspired by the heartbreaking loss of her Mom – a parental loss she shares with Bill Howard and Bill Rudd. Michelle also shares their determination to fuel ideas that lead to the end of such an unspeakable disease, and a strong sense of hope inspired by the work happening at UVA Health Neurosciences.

Bill Rudd

Bill Rudd, the local owner and president of The Rudd Insurance Group, began his Alzheimer's journey when his mother, Margaret, exhibited symptoms just two years post-retirement. Despite her robust physical health, she battled the disease for 15 years until she passed away in 2016. Merely two years later, Bill's younger brother Ray was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, presenting entirely different symptoms. Bill took on the role of Power of Attorney, as he had for his mother, ensuring that Ray receives the necessary care in this challenging stage of his life. Bill remains hopeful that a cure for this debilitating disease will be found within his lifetime.
